Project overview

This project is a personal favorite of mine because I love the style and I love the story that goes along with it.

We had a Microsoft client that ordered an 8.5" x 11" infographic. We told them we would be happy to make that happen for them. All we needed was the content. They sent us an eleven page document of copy along with a bunch of infographics that they wanted featured in their new infographic. We were stunned. There was no way we were going to fit all of this in one 8.5" x 11" infographic. It is also a bit strange to have nested infographics in an infographic.

We got the client on the phone to ask them where we could cut things down to make this work for them. During this call, we discovered that our client was not familiar with what an infographic really was and why we couldn't fit eleven pages of content into one. My producer was stumped. I really wanted to help our client out so I offered to make them an Excel template with character limits, examples, and descriptions to give them a place to start.

The client happily accepted the offer and my producer was relieved to receive actionable content a few days later.

We found that this template was actually very helpful to our clients that are less familiar with the design world, so we decided to make an article with a downloadable template available for anyone having the same struggles.

I chose tea as a subject matter because I love the "Tea Party" aesthetic. It is delicate, feminine, and really fun to design.

This structure is not absolute and is only indented to give a framework to people who have no place to start. I make plenty of less structured infographics and I am always happy to think outside of the design box. However, I also think it is important to keep our clients in mind, and I am proud of this piece for being inclusive to our more technical client base.
