Our client at Facebook was putting together a presentation for their global leads of the Women@ Facebook group. They were in a rough spot from a design perspective because they had just finished having their internal designer create the official branding guidelines for the Women@ group, however, they were not allowed to use any of the new branding for another few months due to legal reasons and they needed an interim solution for their NORAM Leads Offsite events.

The client requested something whimsical and bright with an artistic theme. I used a paint-splatter motif and used the splatters to create shapes and graphics. I created each graphic to relate to the speaker notes on each slide. For example, I created a phoenix graphic for Vivian's slide because she wanted to talk briefly about her struggles and successes as a woman in technology. The phoenix represents her "raising from the ashes" and leading her career with strength and courage.

I used geometric shapes with gray strokes to give the presentation some less organic edges. I wanted to mix hard and soft aesthetics to give the presentation more visual interest. I also used the geometric shapes as a sort of anchor for the slide animations. I animated the hard-edged geometric shapes like fluids to tie them into the paint theme and make the presentation feel like a cohesive experience.
